Accommodations
One of the great advantages of a semi-custom yacht is the ability to make some choices in the layout of the interior and in the materials used. Beautifully handcrafted in your choice of wood, Corian and fabric, the traditional interior of the Outbound will be solid and elegantly customized to fit your personal needs. Whatever your choices, the accommodations will be filled with natural light, excellent ventilation and good proximity to those on watch or relaxing in the cockpit. All hatches in the teak and holly cabin sole are locking. Drawers and louvered cabinet doors have positive latches to keep gear in place. Opening ports and hatches provide excellent ventilation. And there are plenty of handholds to ease one’s passage through the cabin when the seas kick up or you’re heeling over. The master cabin is located in the forward section of the boat with a choice in configurations each with ensuite head: with a full head with separate shower forward the berth is arranged in a Pullman fashion; if a center line double berth is desired, there is a small head with toilet and sink aft and to port; a double offset berth configuration has a full head with separate shower stall aft and to port. In all scenarios, there are drawers below the berth, hanging lockers, and lockers with sliding doors outboard. The main salon is aft of the owner’s cabin. There is a seven foot long U-shaped dinette to port with a straight settee to starboard. The mid-section of the back rest of the straight settee drops forward to become a small table – great for a game of cards or a place for drinks! Book shelves with adjacent lockers are above both settees. The straight settee pulls out to convert to a comfortable sea berth when underway. A choice of fabrics will give the boat a personal touch. The U-shaped galley is to port and includes polished Corian counters, forward facing Scandvik double stainless steel sink with Scandvik faucets and Force Ten three burner propane stove with oven and broiler. A microwave locker with roll top cover is above the stove. The freezer/refrigeration boxes are ready to accommodate a refrigeration system. Jabsco fresh and salt water foot pumps augment the pressure hot and cold water system. There is plenty of space for storage of ship’s stores, dishes, cutlery, and pots and pans. While at first glance the galley will easily meet the needs of the most discerning chef, the space also meets the “safety at sea” requirement that is part and parcel of each OUTBOUND yacht. When tucked into the U-section of the galley, one is not only secure but also out of the way of anything that might be launched from the stove top! The navigation station may be situated either aft or to starboard of the galley. In either scenario the navigator will be in close proximity to those on watch allowing for clear communication with the helmsman. The top opening chart table easily accommodates charts with a built in cabinet forward for a radar/chart plotter. The electrical panel is outboard the helm seat with space forward for mounting additional electronics. The aft head is finished in molded white surfaces that are both easy to clean and bright. There is a separate enclosed shower with molded seat in the head when located opposite the galley. The shower is integral to the space when aft of the galley. The stainless steel sink is set into a Corian countertop. The cabinet above the vanity has sliding mirrored doors with further storage in the cabinet below. The toilet is a Raritan PHII. The head is well situated next to the companionway, the perfect place to shed salty foul weather gear before entering the main cabin. The aft stateroom is comprised of a comfortable double berth. Louvered lockers are above and outboard of the berth with additional storage in cabinets along the aft bulkhead. There is a large hanging locker and book shelves as well as two drawers under the berth. Two ports open into the cockpit providing excellent ventilation. One of the unique aspects of the accommodations aboard the OUTBOUND 44/46 is the space dedicated to the engine and mechanical systems. The mechanical room is aft and to port of the engine compartment. There is a work bench with shelves, lockers and drawers outboard and plenty of space for generator, watermaker or dive compressor inboard under the cockpit sole. The cockpit lazarette opens into the mechanical room and the steering quadrant is accessed through a hatch in the aft bulkhead. The companionway stairs lift easily to provide access to the front end of the engine compartment which is sound insulated. While there is plenty of room for all the gear that makes cruising a pleasure, there is also space available to service these systems in conditions better than most stand up engine rooms.
