Interior Accommodations

AMAGANSETT’S interior is finished in wood, laminate and white molded fiberglass surfaces for an elegant and easy to maintain vessel. The upholstery throughout is a tasteful blue weave. Numerous opening ports and hatches provide excellent ventilation – optional ports were ordered from the factory. There are fabric shades on all ports and hatches. She will sleep six in two private cabins and two settee bunks.

Starting forward, the forward cabin with V-berth is the master stateroom. Good headroom, light and ventilation make this space a comfortable accommodation. Beneath the V-berth is wide open storage space for sails and other large items, easily accessed via the hinged bunk boards. Shelves run along the hulls sides to port and starboard above the berth. Aft and to starboard is a locker with shelves. Opposite to port is a hanging locker. There are two reading lamps, an overhead light and a 110v outlet.

Aft of the forward cabin is the salon. There are straight settees to port and starboard with a drop leaf table mounted on centerline. The two large leaves raise in place to accommodate a large crowd around the table. There is bottle storage in the center of the table. The seatbacks for both settees lift to provide access to open lockers along the hull side and to create a larger berth space. There is also ample storage space beneath the port settee and the forward end of the starboard settee.

The nav station is aft and to starboard. There is a large desk surface with lifting top storage. The Raymarine touch screen GPS chartplotter and VHF radio are close at hand. A chart spotlight provides illumination and there is a 110v outlet. There is a shelf outboard and storage beneath the seat and in a locker at the forward inboard end of the desk.

The galley is opposite the nav station to port. The L-shape countertop with tall fiddles allows for good prep space and plenty of storage. There is a two-bin stainless steel sink at the inboard end with pressure water. A large locker is located below. Beneath the forward outboard end of the counter is the large top loading refrigerator. Aft of the fridge is the propane two burner stove/oven. There are two additional drawers and a locker beneath the counter and a sliding door locker outboard with customized dish storage.

The quarter cabin is located aft of the galley. A large quarterberth extends aft and beneath the cockpit. Three opening ports provide good ventilation. A hanging locker is located at the forward end of the cabin. There is a 110v outlet. The head is located to starboard adjacent to the companionway. The space is finished in easy to maintain white molded fiberglass surfaces. A shower is integral to the space. Forward and outboard is a counter with molded sink, grab rail and storage locker below. The head is located aft, facing inboard.

The J/Boats signature cabin accessed lazarette can be entered via a door in the head compartment. This clever arrangement allows the lazarette to be more conveniently used for storage other than fenders and docklines.

Deck & Hull

AMAGANSETT’S hull and deck are constructed of fiberglass with balsa core using J/Boat’s patented SCRIMP process. Vinylester resin is used in the outer layers of laminate and her hull is covered by a 10 year warranty for blistering. Her hull is white gelcoat with a double boot stripe. Her deck is white with gray contrasting nonskid. A large anchor locker is located forward with an electric windlass and Rocna anchor on the roller. The deck forward is surrounded by a molded toe rail. There are stainless stanchions with double lifelines and boarding gates to port and starboard. Stainless handrails run the length of the cabin top. A blue canvas dodger protects the cockpit, with a built-in handhold along the aft edge. Her T-shaped cockpit features bench seats forward and easy access to her cabin via steps, not a ladder. There is a large lazarette locker beneath the starboard seat and a large “deck locker” aft of the helm. The propane locker is located aft and to port in the cockpit. The traveler and mainsheet controls are located within easy reach of the helmsperson. The “sugar scoop” transom allows easy access to and from a dinghy.
