The Chaparral Signature 27 is the choice of young upscale families and veteran boaters alike. She features a soft ride in swells, fuel efficient performance, ease of operation, common sense layout, versatility and well engineered appointments. Diverse power options let owners select the appropriate speed zone. The three-tier instrument panel has a woodgrain finish and precision Teleflex gauges with stainless bezels. The topside dinette can be protected by an acrylic canopy top and is elevated to provide a panoramic 360-degree view around the boat. The helm has a flip-up bucket seat which is ideal for stand-up or sit-down operation. Aft, a ski tow eye comes in handy as do strategically placed grab handles. In the cabin, twin deck hatches, opening side windows and a white sliding cabin door keep the mood bright and airy. The sound system is mounted at the entryway for easy access. Reading lights, screened opening side windows, plush backrest cushions and Scotchguarded fabrics highlight a main cabin area that does double duty as a dinette or full-sized V-berth. The galley is conveniently laid out with a pressure-water sink, alcohol stove and a refrigerator. The private head has a light, porta-pottie, sink and three large storage compartments with sliding black plexiglass doors. A true bluewater cruiser, the 27 is built with AME 4000 resin, XL plywood and balsa core construction. Across the Signature series, user-friendly helm stations feature non-glare dashboards with attractive woodgrain. Signature dash consoles have plenty of legroom and built-in drinkholders. Teleflex, the leading manufacturer of marine instrumentation, uses glass lenses to eliminate the potential for scratching and yellowing commonplace in gauges with plastic lenses. All gauges are backlit and the tech comes standard with a built-in hour meter. All instruments are surrounded by stainless steel bezels for a polished look. Located in the dash, the power plug provides convenient access to the 12-V power system, to activate a cellular phone or other electronics. Chaparral uses individual circuit breakers for each switch on the dash. Clearly identified for quick access, each circuit breaker is fitted with a rubber waterproof jacket to help protect onboard electrical systems from the harsh marine environment. Behind the dashboard, all Chaparral wiring is color-coded, routed, secured and properly channeled. Chaparral installs premier-quality JVC sound systems. A dash-mounted wired remote control is standard on the 300, 29 and 27, and optional on the 240 and 260. A leading name in audio components, JVC chassis are noted for their superior construction and ability to withstand the marine environment. Water-resistant speakers are strategically positioned throughout the boat for optimum clarity and stereo separation. Ergonomic helm seats feature a new flip-up front cushion so the Signature cruiser can be comfortably piloted seated or standing. One-piece, heavy-duty stainless windshield supports maintain rigidity far better than aluminum or plastic braces that can break over time. Durable leatherette vinyl seating is featured throughout the cabins on the 300 and 29 and on the V-berth backrests of all Signature cruisers 27 feet and under. Gibraltar countertops are used in the galleys of the Signature 300, 29 and 27. Resistant to scratches, the surface maintains its appearance for the life of the boat. Galleys are designed for easy meal preparation at the dock or underway. Signature galleys are vented to eliminate heat build-up around the coils so the refrigerator will run efficiently. Soft, radiused corners add to the eye appeal. Chaparral Scotchguards all cabin fabrics, headliners, cushions and drapes to resist stains. All of the color-coordinated carpeting is treated with UV, mildew and stain inhibitors. For long life and sure footing in the cabin, plush 28-ounce carpet is installed on the Signature 240, 260 and 27, while heavy-duty 44-ounce carpet is used exclusively on the 29 and 300. Signatures are fitted with drapes that include stitched white fabric linings for a neater look and more privacy. Lined drapes hang true, hold pleats longer, are easier to retract and help minimize light penetration while sleeping at night. For better fit and finish and ease of maintenance, a fiberglass shell is used in the head rather than wood or formica. Fiberglass construction means easy cleanup and no unsightly caulking build-up under the countertops or bulkheads. Fiberglass construction means a sanitary interior and quality look. The doors are framed and flush mounted, which eliminates rattles and creates smooth, custom lines. The shorepower panel comes standard with AC gauges, which allows voltage received from any shorepower source to be monitored. A DC gauge is standard on the Signature 29, 27 and 260. Chrome-over-brass through-hull fittings resist potential cracking better than standard plastic fittings and enhance the boat's exterior appearance. Chaparral's cleats, running lights, bow - stern eyes, bow rails and ski tow eyes are high-quality 316L stainless steel so they won't corrode. Attached with four large stainless steel bolts and secured by backing plates so they won't twist when put to extreme conditions, cleats are large enough to accept full-sized looped dock lines. One-inch bow rails attach to secure wrought bases. Welding the base, both at the top and underside, creates a tougher, stronger and more durable bond. Critical T-joints are welded at the top of the rails. Welded T-joints create added strength, won't give and provide a high quality look. You'll never have to worry about reaching a shorepower receptacle with a convenient 50-foot cord. Chaparral uses a heavy-duty rubber rubrail and a custom interlocking system that won't separate and absorbs impact without denting or crazing the gelcoat. Traditional inexpensive aluminum frames with undersized rubber inserts give under pressure, may dent easily and are constantly separating. Durable and strong, anodized aluminum deck hatches feature a scratch resistant safety glass insert and come standard with a screen to keep out insects. Impervious to ultraviolet rays, Chaparral deck hatches are large enough for a full-sized adult to pass through. The twin-strake, modified-V running surface of Chaparral's Extended V-Plane incorporated into the 240, 260 and 300 Signatures - extends the full length of the hull including the critical area under the fiberglass swim platform. Extended V-Plane means that every inch of fiberglass is at work whether idling through a no-wake zone or motoring along at full throttle. What separates Signatures from the pack are the endless hours in R&D fine-tuning the keel, strakes and chines. Extending the running surface full length means faster time to reach plane, improved tracking, added stability in shifting water conditions and lower fuel bills. Behind the wheel there is a distinct difference in cornering agility, ride control and balance under shifting weight loads. Trim shifts are precise, throttle response immediate. Made of Northern Spruce, pressure-treated XL plywood features seven laminates in its 3-4-inch sheets and carries a limited lifetime warranty against rot, decay, bleeding and delamination. Standard four or five-laminate marine-grade plywood is dip treated, protecting only the outer layers. An advanced technology polyester gelcoat is used for superior weather resistance to yellowing, fading and chalking. With premium gelcoat and proper maintenance, a boat will keep its original glossy luster longer. Premium gelcoat offers improved flexibility, minimizing cracking and stress crazes. Chaparral uses AME 4000, a modified acrylic epoxy resin, in the hull skin coat of their boats because of its superior bonding characteristics and exceptional flex. End-grain balsa core is used in the deck areas because it's lighter, stronger and conforms well to the deck shape. Injected into every cavity between the stringers and the floorboards, non-ozone depleting polyurethane closed-cell foam will not absorb water and provides a quieter ride and added structural integrity. Chaparral relies on automotive-style Flexguard loom to keep wiring neat and to protect against abrasion. Both style and comfort are important in seat construction. Chaparral starts with a high-density layer of Bio-Pruf mildew-resistant foam to give the seat its shape. Next, they add 34-ounce expanded vinyl with a foam backing for a comfortable feel and durability. Chaparral also adds Flow-Mesh beneath the high-density foam layer to allow the seat to drain, breathe and dry properly. For rigidity, the same foam used under the floor is injected into the plastic bases of bucket seats. Arm rests provide lateral support. Carefully engineered lumbar support means superior comfort. Chaparral uses a heavy-duty 34-ounce expanded vinyl - also referred to as 50-gauge or 55 mil - plus foam backing with excellent memory retention. Vinyls are treated with Bio-Pruf mildew, ultraviolet and stain inhibitors. Triple-French stitching with reinforced backing strips looks elegant and adds strength. Plastic composite seat bases repel water and resist moisture far better than less expensive wood seats. Additionally, Flow-Mesh raises the foam off the composite base for faster and more thorough drainage. Cushions are covered with a polyethelene vapor barrier so water won't penetrate the foam. Because people inevitably stand on a boat, angled aluminum bottom supports provide extra durability. Chaparral's high-density, mildew-resistant foam is 40 percent denser than the industry average. Their foam keeps its original shape longer and won't bottom out. The wide open transom area features a comfortable two-position rear bench seat. In the hideaway position, it allows uninterrupted movement aft for fishing or diving. Unsnap the vinyl closure to pull the seat down and it provides a comfortable sun lounge or additional seating. White plexiglass is used for all cabin doors because it resists heat and scratches and provides a good level of privacy while still allowing light to illuminate the cabin. It slides on a track and locks for security.
