Accommodations

Enter the interior by decking underneath the canvas dodger. This is a great feature as it helps assist in keeping  the weather out and the heat in. The history of  sailboat interiors have been such that all available space is used to its full advantage, and the design of this one certainly reflects this ideology This Catalina has a wide range of sleeping options as well as functional space. The galley has a stove and oven combination, microwave and deep icebox right next to the large stainless steel sink.  Numerous storage options as well as shelving beneath  the counter  and drawers utilize the space in an intelligent manner to assist in keeping the kitchen items stored away. Opposite the galley is a comfortable dinette that converts to a sleeping berth in the evening. Again there are built-in storage options on that side of the vessel. Additionally there is also an office style desk with comfortable oversized burgundy colored chair. This vessel  can sleep seven, with a comfortable roomy berth in the bow area, a double in the aft and opposite the double is a single. The dinette converts into a single. The air diesel furnace keeps everything cozy and warm. The stereo has a CD player with pod compatibility and numerous speakers. The teak details and various lighting options makes this interior inviting.

Engines

As a secondary propulsion option to the numerous sails available on this vessel, a single diesel 23 hp Universal engine is also included. Sails available for this spacious 36 foot vessel include one new (2011) partial batten main sail, a Dacron 110% Genoa and a 135% overlap Genoa. A spare older mainsail is also provided. Lewmar self tailing winches make it easy to sail this vessel single-handedly. This sloop with fin and spade rudder provides a smooth and stable sail with little to no weather helm.

Electrical & Electronics

All vessels regardless of their motoring power need to have essential electronics about onboard. this Catalina has a Garmin GPS,SiTex radar, ICOM VHF, horizon depth sounder and Raytheon smart pilot autopilot. The Garmin map is an integrated electronic system. a Ritchie 5 inch compass as well as a KVH model Sail Comp 103AC flux-gate compass is included along with a Horizon digital knot-meter and log.  A Davis masthead wind indicator, Plastimo clock and barometer round out the complement of electronics and navigational equipment. An EPRIB and life sling are part of the safety package.

Additional Information

In addition to being a great value for the money, Catalina has also designed the upper deck  to be exceptionally safe. Extra wide decks and toe rails assist in maneuvering easily. The rigging is designed to keep the lines out of the cockpit. The  Maxwell electric anchor winch with a 15 kg anchor and 200 feet total of ground tackle stows away neatly in the large anchor locker. The dodger is an added plus, enjoy sailing in all weather. This is a great sailboat for families or the lone sailor. Easy to single hand, with roomy decks and a classic styling interior, this vessel is extremely popular. There are many Catalina forums and clubs that extoll the virtues of this great sailing vessel.
