CONSTRUCTION

A one-off wooden sloop built in 1954 by William King of Burnham, to  a design by FBR (Buster) Brown and intended as his own yacht.

Teak long keeled hull with lead ballast keel set towards the front of the skeg.

Topsides painted with white gloss. 

Rudder, built from hardwood boards with bronze straps and steered by varnished hardwood tiller

Deck beams in oak

Decks in western red cedar, straight planked with cream coloured painted canvas sheathing

Superstructure in varnished teak 

Self draining cockpit with sheet copper base and teak grating and 


ACCOMMODATION

Access from the cockpit to the saloon is via a companion way with hinged panelled hardwood doors and a top slide.

Saloon has three single berths and a galley with 2 burner alcohol stove and stainless steel sink with manually operated pressurised water supply. Fold down work surface over stove and storage under.

Full size chart table folds away to allow access to quarter berth.

Cabin heating by fixed charcoal burner .

Heads and sail storage compartment in forepeak with early model Blakes sea toilet, separated from main saloon by two doors in main timber bulkhead.

Masthead sloop rig

Deck stepped,varnished timber mast, boom and spinnaker pole.

Stainless steel wire standing rigging  - replaced in 2012.

Three reefing lines

Two single action primary sheet winches, in chromed bronze, on cockpit coamings. Probably original

Sails in Dacron/canvas by Heard & Clatworthy - all in Egyptian Cream colour. Aged but little used and usually serviced annually.

ENGINE

Yanmar 3 GM 20hp diesel engine, serviced in 2019, with shaft driven 3 bladed folding bronze propeller.
